Loftia Urbex is Early Access content: explore Gridfall's underground areas with a special tool to collect rare resources from November 3, 2026.
Loftia Urbex: Urban Exploration in Gridfall
Urbex is Early Access content, not demo content. The official Early Access page defines it as the exploration of various underground areas: in Early Access you hop down into Gridfall and, with the help of a special tool, collect rare resources and discover hidden nooks and crannies. It goes live on November 3, 2026 at 1pm EST (2am Beijing time on November 4), the same day Gridfall opens to ordinary players. As of the October 2026 Steam Next Fest demo, the tool's name, the resource list, drop rates and the tunnel entrances are all still unpublished.
- Where: underground areas inside Gridfall, the salvaging district.
- When: Early Access, November 3, 2026 at 1pm EST.
- Tool: a special tool the official page describes but does not name.
- Rewards: rare resources, plus hidden nooks and crannies.
- In the demo: salvaging above ground in Loftia City only.
- Still unpublished: tool name, resource list, drop rates, map, screenshot.
No Urbex screenshot has been published yet, so the image on this page is an official Loftia scene rather than a shot of the tunnels themselves.
What Urbex is, in the developer's own wording
Urbex is the last named feature on the official "What's coming to Early Access?" list on loftia.gg, sitting directly above "And more to come!". The whole official specification is one sentence:
Urbex, short for "Urban Exploration", is the exploration of various underground areas. During Early Access, you'll be able to hop down and, with the help of a special tool, collect rare resources and discover hidden nooks and crannies within the Gridfall district.
Official source: Loftia - Early Access
There is no second paragraph, no resource list, no tool name and no map, but the same page promises "We'll be adding more information to this page before Early Access launches on November 3, 2026". Read it again in the final week before launch rather than trusting a fan list you find today.
Where Urbex lives: Gridfall above, tunnels below
Gridfall is the district Urbex belongs to, and the two halves are one continuous location. The official Early Access page calls Gridfall "Loftia's salvaging district, a concrete jungle built from scraps and love on the remains of the old world", where you ride air rails, scale towering skyscrapers, uncover stories at the museum, dance along with the locals, and "explore secret underground tunnels with friends".
Official source: Loftia - Early Access
The salvage district above and the underground spaces below share the same buildings, air tram lines and NPC roster. The Gridfall guide covers the district in full, and its official NPC roster includes Mita the Gridfall Manager, Cliff the Airtram Operator, Milo the Repair Specialist, Atlas the Museum Curator and Ryder the Adventurer.
Gridfall has also been visible for months: when the April 2026 closed beta opened, the team described the new district as "a rustic city with a punk-inspired, industrial aesthetic". What that tour did not do was open the underground to the public, so for everyone outside that beta Gridfall and Urbex are both November 3 content.

The frame below is an official trailer still, not Urbex footage: the developer has published none.

The special tool: confirmed in principle, unnamed in practice
Everything official about the tool is one clause: "with the help of a special tool". Enough to plan around, nowhere near enough to pre-collect.
| Question | Official status |
|---|---|
| What does the tool do? | It is the means for collecting rare resources underground |
| What is it called, and how do you get it? | Not disclosed: no name, recipe or vendor |
| Is it the same tool used for surface salvaging? | Not disclosed: demo tools are separate, no confirmation |
| Durability, energy cost, cooldown? | Not disclosed: no official numbers |
| Which resources are rare, and where are the entrances? | Not disclosed: the category is named, the list and map are not |
Worth adding: the official homepage says shared builds will "unlock new resources, uncover hidden stories, and open up new islands to explore", and Early Access adds larger World Projects such as rebuilding the Loftia City Dome. A rare resource does not have to come only from a tunnel. Urbex is the underground door, not the only one.
Official source: Loftia - Official Site
No official source has published the special tool's name, the rare-resource list, drop rates or a single tunnel entrance. Fan wikis and video titles for a feature that has never been playable are usually guesses presented as facts. The only citable source today is the Early Access page linked above.
How Urbex plugs into salvaging and item fragments
Urbex is not a standalone minigame. It reuses the resource vocabulary the demo already teaches, which is why the salvaging guide is worth reading first.
| System | As of the October 2026 Steam Next Fest demo | At Early Access launch (November 3, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Salvaging | Playable above ground; one of six demo features | Same surface loop, plus the underground tier |
| Scrambled Coordinates | Chance to drop from harvesting any resource node (official known issues); patch notes 1 raised the drop chance during Ryder's quest step | Not restated for the underground |
| Item fragments | Could stay uncombined at the threshold; patch notes 1 fixed it on October 21, 2026, and the official workaround for older builds is to drop the pieces and pick them back up | Same fragment system underground |
| Bloom | Unlocked from the Daily Goodies Chest only after Ryder's intro Adventure quest | Not restated |
| Proficiency cap | Every skill stops at Level 5 | Cap removed, with Perks to spend points in |
| Adventure content | Group puzzles and social minigames | Adventure gauntlets, the named challenge layer |
The salvaging and item fragments guide has the full breakdown, and the proficiencies and perks guide covers what changes at launch. The demo teaches the surface grammar; Urbex is the underground tier that uses the same nouns with a rarer vocabulary.
What you can do right now, and why it matters on November 3
The demo runs October 19 to October 26, 2026. It opens in Loftia City, and its feature list is Farming, Decorating, Sharing, Salvaging resources, Adventures and Social. The main questline stops just before Hanging Gardens, and Gridfall is not in the demo at all, so no amount of grinding unlocks a tunnel. There is nothing to unlock yet.
What the demo does give you is a head start on the systems Urbex sits inside, plus progress that survives launch.
| Demo outcome | What it means on November 3, 2026 |
|---|---|
| Quests, items, character progression | All carry over into Early Access |
| Character name | Carries over, but a demo name is only held if you log in once between November 3, 2026 and February 3, 2027; after that it returns to the pool |
| Salvaging practice | The surface half of the resource loop Urbex extends |
| Ryder's intro Adventure quest | Unlocks Bloom and Scrambled Coordinates in the Daily Goodies Chest |
| Tool wheel habit | Hold R, or the gamepad equivalent, to open the tool wheel, the official fix for items that fail to appear in your inventory |

Log in before October 26, finish Ryder's intro Adventure quest so the Daily Goodies Chest opens, and claim a character name with the email address tied to your loftia.gg account. Without that account link, neither the demo rewards nor your progress can be recovered. Then re-read the Early Access page on launch morning, where the missing Urbex details are promised to land first.
The launch-day timeline
| Date | What happens | What it means for Urbex |
|---|---|---|
| October 19, 2026 | Next Fest demo goes live | Salvaging above ground only |
| October 26, 2026 | Demo ends | Progress and name stay tied to your account |
| Before November 3, 2026 | More information is promised on the Early Access page | Tool name, resources and entrances may appear here first |
| November 3, 2026, 1pm EST, which is 2am Beijing time on November 4 | Early Access servers open | Gridfall and Urbex become playable |
| November 3, 2026 to February 3, 2027 | Character name reservation window | Log in once, or the demo name goes back into the pool |
Two notes for the first hours. Loftia is always online, only players on the same server can play together, and servers are not locked, so you can find a friend whenever you like. The official Gridfall text pairs the underground tunnels with friends, while the official FAQ says solo play never blocks progress. A solo player loses nothing by arriving late.
FAQ
Is Urbex in the Loftia demo?
No. The demo running October 19 to October 26, 2026 covers Loftia City only, with Farming, Decorating, Sharing, Salvaging resources, Adventures and Social, ending just before Hanging Gardens. Gridfall and Urbex both arrive in Early Access on November 3, 2026.
When can I play Urbex in Loftia?
Early Access opens on November 3, 2026 at 1pm EST, which is 2am Beijing time on November 4. Urbex sits on the same reveal list as Gridfall, Hanging Gardens, Pets, the uncapped proficiencies, hydroponics stations, adventure gauntlets and bigger World Projects, and the team has said it will add more information to the Early Access page before launch.
What is the special tool used for Urbex, and where do I get it?
Not disclosed. The official page says only that with the help of a special tool you will be able to collect rare resources underground. There is no official name, recipe, vendor, durability rule or entrance list, so any tool name you read today is unverified until the developer publishes it.
Does Urbex have its own skill or proficiency line?
Not announced. Every proficiency stops at Level 5 in the demo. Early Access removes that cap and lets you choose Perks, and the official wording lists Farming, Crafting, Cooking and Fishing before adding "or something else", so a dedicated exploration proficiency is possible but unconfirmed.
Is Urbex solo or group content?
Both, in principle. The official Gridfall text says to explore the underground tunnels with friends, the FAQ says solo play never blocks progress and servers are not locked, and only players on the same server can play together.
