How Loftia decorating works: Estella the furniture expert, shared neighbourhood islands, and a cosmetics-only Backer Boutique with no gacha.
Loftia Decorating and Furniture Guide
Loftia decorating happens on your own floating island, which links up with other players' islands to form a neighbourhood where you decorate, farm and craft in shared spaces. Decorating is playable in the October 2026 Steam Next Fest demo, which runs October 19 to October 26. The paid half of decoration lives in one place: the Backer Boutique, a cosmetic shop selling outfits, furniture, pet accessories and styles, and visual effects. Every item is cosmetic, none of it changes gameplay, and the developers state plainly that Loftia will not have gacha mechanics. The two residents to look for in Loftia City are Estella, whose official occupation is Furniture and Decoration Expert, and Linda, the Fashionista and Thrift Shop Owner.
- You get your own floating island and link it with others to form neighbourhoods, then decorate, farm and craft together.
- The demo feature list includes Decorating, Sharing, Farming, Salvaging resources, Adventures and Social, and progress carries into Early Access.
- Early Access opens on November 3, 2026 at 1pm EST, 2am on November 4 in Beijing time.

Who to find in Loftia City for decoration
Two of the fifteen official residents own the decoration side, and the site publishes their job titles, so you can find them by role.
| NPC | Official occupation | Role for your home |
|---|---|---|
| Estella | Furniture and Decoration Expert | The decoration specialist, who believes your home is a mirror to your soul |
| Linda | Fashionista and Thrift Shop Owner | A chic tailor; the outfit side of the cosmetic shop |
| Kun | Global Village Manager | Runs the shared village space |

One caveat: no furniture questline is published. These roles are a map of who to talk to, not a chain of errands. The full roster is on our Loftia NPC and character list, and the Loftia City guide covers the demo district.
The housing model: island, neighbourhood, shared space
The official homepage describes it in one sentence: create your own floating island and link up with others to form neighbourhoods, then decorate, farm, craft and spend time in shared spaces that feel lived-in.
The demo calls the place your island belongs the Player Neighborhood, and the official reward list unlocks the Demo Banner on first entering it. Getting into a neighbourhood is part of the demo loop, not an Early Access feature.
| Housing question | What the official material says | Status as of the October 2026 demo |
|---|---|---|
| Do I get my own home space? | Your own floating island | Confirmed |
| Can other players live next to me? | Link your island with others to form neighbourhoods | Confirmed |
| Is there a showcase of homes? | House Showcase exists; patch notes 1 fixed a login kick | Confirmed in the demo |
| How many islands can link up? | Not stated in official material | Not disclosed |
| How large is a plot, and what does it cost? | Not stated; Dew plot prices online are community-reported | Not disclosed |
| Is there a cap on objects per island, or a published furniture list? | Not stated; concept art for furniture sets only | Not disclosed |
The developers publish structure and intent, and leave numbers for launch. Plan your home around what you have seen in the demo, not a spec sheet nobody has released.

What decorating looks like in the demo right now
The demo covers Loftia City and its opening main questline, and the official feature list names Decorating and Sharing alongside Farming, Salvaging, Adventures and Social.
Demo progress is not throwaway: gameplay progress and your character name carry over into Early Access, so a house you arrange during Next Fest week is a house you keep. The three-month window applies to the name, not the house: a name claimed in the demo is only held if you log in between November 3, 2026 and February 3, 2027, a demo rule rather than a launch rule. The demo also hands out furniture: its three Next Fest rewards are the first decorative items named in writing.
| Demo reward | How it is unlocked | What kind of item it is |
|---|---|---|
| Demo Banner | Unlocked on first entering the Player Neighborhood | A banner, placeholder art in the demo |
| Pebble Chair | Invite 1 friend to play the demo | Seating furniture |
| Pebble Couch | Invite 2 friends to play the demo | Seating furniture |
Two live problems matter when decorating with friends. The official known-issues page, updated October 21, 2026, reports crashes when a group travels to a player island while the team investigates group housing server assignment, plus background NPCs occasionally standing in the wrong place, even floating in mid-air.

Where paid decoration lives: the Backer Boutique
The Backer Boutique is a cosmetic shop where you can buy optional cosmetics such as outfits, furniture, pet accessories and styles, and visual effects. The shop carries cosmetic items only, and they will not affect gameplay. Loftia will not have gacha mechanics in its monetization.
| Boutique category | What it covers | Gameplay effect |
|---|---|---|
| Outfits | Character clothing | None, cosmetic only |
| Furniture | Furniture for your home and island | None, cosmetic only |
| Pet accessories and styles | Companion outfits and looks | None, cosmetic only |
| Visual effects | Visual effects | None, cosmetic only |
Individual prices have not been announced. The game price has: buy-to-play at a US base price of $29.99, a limited-time 17% launch discount bringing it to $24.89, and regional pricing. There is no subscription, no planned paid expansion, and Early Access updates are free for everyone who owns the game.
The Community Pass is the second optional spend, and it is decoration-adjacent: it unlocks additional cosmetic rewards from World Projects, some free to all players and others requiring the pass. Once a World Project is finished, later players can still go back and unlock all pass rewards, because they do not expire. Both spends are covered in the Loftia Community Pass and Backer Boutique guide.

Communal building versus personal decoration
Your own furniture is a boutique purchase; community structures are World Projects, where players contribute to a shared build and unlock new resources, uncover hidden stories and open new islands. The demo's example was the community birthday party for Pebble. Early Access adds larger builds such as rebuilding the Loftia City Dome, with rewards split into a free track and a Community Pass track, and the pass track can carry a decoration reward. See the Loftia World Projects guide.
What arrives with Early Access on November 3, 2026
Early Access opens on November 3, 2026 at 1pm EST; everything below is announced for that date, not playable now.
| Feature | What it changes for decorating | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Pets | Companions you can pet, dress up and bond with, which is what the boutique's pet accessories are for | Coming in Early Access on November 3, 2026 |
| Proficiency cap removal and Perks | The demo caps proficiencies at Level 5; Early Access removes the cap and adds Perks | Coming in Early Access on November 3, 2026 |
| More World Projects | Larger builds such as rebuilding the Loftia City Dome, with cosmetic rewards | Coming in Early Access on November 3, 2026 |
| Hanging Gardens | A second floating island district of greenery and community farms, to visit rather than to live in | Coming in Early Access on November 3, 2026 |

What is still not published
Official concept art shows furniture sets with lamps, shelves, an armchair, a round table, a rug and a hammock, but no item names, counts or prices. Nothing published says whether a piece can be crafted in-game, whether Estella sells anything, or how many objects an island holds.
Photo sharing is separate from that list. The demo has a House Showcase, confirmed by a patch notes 1 bug fix, and players do post their houses, but the official site publishes no photo mode page, so treat it as a community practice. Our House Showcase and sharing your home guide agrees.
FAQ
Does Loftia have gacha mechanics? No. The official Early Access page states Loftia will not have gacha mechanics in its monetization, and that the premium model avoids predatory monetization tactics.
Does buying furniture give a gameplay advantage? No. The shop has cosmetic items only and will not affect gameplay. The FAQ says microtransactions are limited to cosmetics, and you pay once for all gameplay in Loftia.
Can I decorate during the demo, and does my home carry over? Yes. Decorating is on the official demo feature list, which runs October 19 to October 26, 2026. Progress and character name carry over, but a demo name is only held if you log in between November 3, 2026 and February 3, 2027.
Which NPC do I talk to about furniture in Loftia City? Estella, whose official occupation is Furniture and Decoration Expert. Linda is the Fashionista and Thrift Shop Owner and covers clothing. Both are on the official resident roster.
Is there a furniture catalogue? No. Concept art exists for furniture sets, and the demo names the Pebble Chair and Pebble Couch, but there is no item list, no slot count and no per-item price. Any list elsewhere is community-compiled.
Does the Community Pass include furniture? The pass unlocks additional cosmetic rewards from World Projects; the boutique is where furniture is sold outright. Which rewards it carries is unpublished. Published: once a World Project ends, later players can still unlock all pass rewards, because they never expire.
